On Saturday night at Alvernia University, the Ocean City Nor’easters (3-0-1) shut out their long-time rivals Reading United AC (2-1-3) with a 2-0 win. It was Ocean City’s first shutout of the season.
Ocean City is now 23-22-8 against Reading United AC, dating back to 1997. The win moved the Nor’easters into a first-place tie in the Mid-Atlantic Division with West Chester United SC. Meanwhile, the Nor’easters extend their unbeaten road streak to nine games (dating back to 2019) and are 3-0-1 against Reading in the last four games.
Nor’easters forward MD Meyers scored two goals in the first 23 minutes of the game, with Gianluca Arlotti, Alessandro Arlotti, and Abdi Salim assisting Meyers’ goals. Meyers is now tied with teammate Nicolas Cam Orellana for second in goals scored for the Nor’easters.
Ocean City goalkeeper Felix Schafer made six saves. The Nor’easters finished the night with 15 shots, six corner kicks, six fouls, and two yellow cards.
On Wednesday night, the Nor’easters return to the “Beach House” at Carey Stadium against Lehigh Valley United (0-3-1) at 7 pm on Eleven Sports. Tickets for the game can be purchased at oceancityfc.com.
