On Friday, the Calgary Stampeders signed former Edmonton Elks defensive back Darius Williams. The St. Petersburgh, Florida native, was with Calgary in the preseason and recorded an interception. He was among the final cuts in training camp.
Darius Williams (25-years-old) originally signed with the Stampeders in 2020, but the season was canceled. In 2021, he played for the Sea Lions (TSL) before heading to the CFL, where he made his for the Edmonton Elks with 30 tackles, six tackles on special teams, and one forced fumble in 14 games. In 2019, he signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent.
In college, Williams played four seasons at Colorado State-Pueblo (2016-18) with 178 tackles, five sacks, 58 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 16 interceptions, six of them returned for touchdowns in 50 games with the Thunderwolves. He also had two punt returns for 23 yards. Williams was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Star in all four years.
