Highlights: New Orleans Breakers 17, Tampa Bay Bandits 6

On Sunday at Protective Stadium, the New Orleans Breakers (6-3) clinched the final playoff spot in the USFL with a 17-6 win over the Tampa Bay Bandits (4-5). The Breakers will play the Birmingham Stallions in the playoffs in two weeks from Canton, Ohio.

Breakers’ quarterback Kyle Sloter was 7/14 for 48 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception, while backup quarterback Zach Smith was 5/6 for 51 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions, and four carries for 25 yards.

Breakers’ running back Anthony Jones had 11 carries for 59 yards, and tight end Sal Cannella led the receivers with three catches for 34 yards and one touchdown. The defense allowed 352 yards, 68 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, and nine pass breakups.

Bandits’ quarterback Jordan Ta’amu went 22/39 for 288 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions and led the rushers with nine carries for 86 yards, while Rashard Davis led the receivers with six catches for 112 yards and one touchdown. The defense allowed 215 yards, 69 tackles, three sacks, one interception, and four pass breakups.

Next week, the Breakers wrap up the season on Sunday against the Houston Gamblers at 8:30 pm on FS1, while the Bandits wrap up the season against the Birmingham Stallions on Saturday at 4 pm on FOX. Tickets for both games can be purchased thanks to our friends at StubHub.
