Ocean City beats West Chester United SC in comeback fashion

On Wednesday night at Kildare’s Turf Field, the Ocean City Nor’easters (8-0-2) rallied from behind 2-1 over West Chester United SC (6-3-1) for their eighth straight win. The win extends Ocean City’s unbeaten streak to ten games, which is their best start since 2004. Including the last game of 2021, the Nor’easters unbeaten streak is at 11 games, and the club record has now reached 12 games.

The Nor’easters are now seven points ahead of West Chester United SC for first place in the Mid-Atlantic Division with four games remaining in the regular season.

Then, the Nor’easters forward MD Myers made a pass to Galen Flynn inside the box, and Flynn’s shot hit the hand of a West Chester United player, resulting in a penalty kick taken by Nick Pariano. He scored the goal, and the game was tied 1-1 in the 39th minute. It was Pariano’s second goal of the season. The game remained tied 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Nick Pariano made a long curling cross pass that found the head of Alessandro Arlotti that went over Kent Dickey’s head and into the net for a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute. It was his second game-winning goal and fifth goal of the season.

Ocean City goalkeeper Felix Schäfer made three saves for his seventh win of the season. His seven wins are the most by an Ocean City goalkeeper since former Nor’easter and current Los Angeles FC goalkeeper John McCarthy in 2012 with 11 wins.
