On Friday, the Reading Royals re-signed defenseman Mike Chen and added forward Yvan Mongo for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Mike Chen (29-years-old) returns to Reading for his second season. Last year, Chen scored a goal and six assists (7 points) in 34 games. The Rockville, Maryland, native previously played for the Pensacola Ice Flyers (SPHL) in the 2020-21 season with three goals and 11 assists (14 points) in 31 games.
In the 2017-18 season, Chen was with the Knoxville Ice Bears with six goals and 23 assists (29 points) in 46 games. In addition, he played for the South Carolina Stingrays with five goals and seven assists (12 points).
Yvan Mongo (25-years-old) played four seasons for the University of Ottawa (2018-22) with 20 goals and 32 assists (52 points) in 72 games. In addition, the Gatineau, Quebec, native scored three goals and one assist (4 points) in the playoffs.
Mongo was the captain for the Gee-Gees in his junior and senior seasons. In his senior year, Mongo scored four goals and ten assists (14 points) in 18 games and was named to the USports (OUA Far East) All-Star Team.
