Reading Royals sign former Merrimack College forward Max Newton

On Thursday, the Reading Royals signed former Merrimack College forward Max Newton for the 2022-23 season.

The 24-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, last season finished his collegiate career at Merrimack College with 14 goals and 24 assists (38 points) in 35 games before making his pro debut for the Worcester Railers (ECHL) with three goals and five assists (8 points) in 13 games. He also played two games with the Providence Bruins with one assist.

Max Newton spent five seasons in college with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks for three seasons (2017-2020) and two seasons at Merrimack College (2020-22) with 35 goals and 57 assists (88 points). He also played three seasons in the BCHL for the Trail Smoke Eaters and Cowichan Valley Capitals with 47 goals and 76 assists (123 points).
