Hamilton Tiger-Cats

On Monday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed linebacker Jarek Richards. The 26-year-old from Chateauguay, Quebec, attended the Tiger-Cats training camp. Last season, Richards played five games for Hamilton with one tackle and a fumble recovery.

Hamilton drafted Richards in the fourth round (36th pick) in the 2021 CFL Draft out of Saint Mary’s University. He played three seasons for the Huskies with 106.5 tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups, and three blocks on special teams.

In addition to Richards, the team also announced that former Montreal Alouettes head coach Khari Jones joins the team as a Football Operations Consultant.

Jones has 25 years of CFL experience both as a player and coach. As a player, Jones played for the Albany Firebirds (AFL) and the Scottish Claymores (NFLE) before joining the BC Lions in 1998. In addition to the Lions, he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2000-04), Calgary Stampeders (2004), and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2005), going 1,513/2,648 passes (57.1%) for 21,383 yards, 145 touchdowns, 104 interceptions, 301 carries for 1,664 yards, and 13 touchdowns in 130 games.

Jones started his coaching career in Hamilton as a quarterback coach before becoming the offensive coordinator in 2011. He left Hamilton to be the quarterback coach for Saskatchewan, then went on to the offensive coordinator for the BC Lions for three seasons, then moved to Montreal as their offensive coordinator. In 2019, Jones was promoted to head coach.
