Ocean City Nor’easters season ends in a 3-1 loss to Long Island

On Friday afternoon at TowneBank Stadium in Newport News, Virginia, the fourth seed Ocean City Nor’easters took on the fifth seed Long Island Roughriders in the first round of the 2022 USL League Two playoffs.

Ocean City forward MD Myers put the Nor’easters up 1-0 in the 28th minute with an assist from Jeorgio Kocevski. Ocean City led 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Long Island tied the game in the 71st minute by Matthew Vowinkel, Justin Weiss scored in the 84th minute, and Ryan Carmichael put the game away in stoppage time, and the Nor’easters season came to an end with a 3-1 loss.

Ocean City had 13 shots, two yellow cards, and goalkeeper Felix Schafer made three saves. Ocean City finished the season 11-0-3, the first undefeated season since 2004, on their way to winning the Mid-Atlantic Division title. Alessandro Arlotti led Ocean City with eight goals and six assists.
