On Tuesday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers added wide receiver Kelvin McKnight Jr. to the practice squad. The 25-year-old from Bradenton, Florida, played eight games last year in Winnipeg with 15 catches for 96 yards. In addition, McKnight had nine punt returns for 34 yards and one kick return for eight yards.
McKnight played four seasons at Samford (2015-18) with 313 catches for 4,144 yards, 32 touchdowns, 17 carries for 120 yards, and one touchdown. In addition, McKnight had 74 punt returns for 643 yards and one touchdown in 44 games.
In 2015, McKnight was named SoCon Freshmen of the Year, 2016 Second Team All-SoCon, a two-time First Team All-SoCon (2017-18), and a two-time FCS All-American (2017-18).
McKnight signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2019. After being released by Denver, McKnight went to New England before returning to Denver’s practice squad for two seasons (2019-20).
