Ottawa Redblacks signs defensive end Antonio Simmons

On Wednesday, the Ottawa Redblacks signed defensive end Antonio Simmons, who the Montreal Alouettes released on Monday. The 26-year-old had four tackles in three games in his second stint with the Alouettes this year.

Antonio Simmons played 23 games in two seasons in his first stint with the Alouettes, making 52 tackles, five sacks, and one forced fumble. Simmons was traded to the Edmonton Elks in October 2021 for quarterback Trevor Harris and played four games with seven tackles and one sack. In 30 career games, Simmons has 63 tackles, six sacks, and one forced fumble.

He played college football at Georgia Tech for four years (2014-17) with 83 tackles and seven sacks. In 2018, he tried out for the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
