On Wednesday, Philadelphia Stars wide receiver Maurice Alexander Jr. signed with the Detroit Lions. He is the fourth Stars player to sign in the NFL. The 25-year-old from Florida City, Florida, started six of ten games for the Stars with 20 catches for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
In addition, Alexander had 25 kick returns for 787 yards and 13 punt returns for 164 yards. In the USFL playoffs, Alexander had three kick returns for 77 yards, one punt return for 87 yards, and one touchdown. He was named to the All-USFL Team. The Stars drafted Alexander in the Seventeenth-Round Pick (136th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.
Maurice Alexander played 38 games in four seasons (2016-19) at FIU with 65 catches for 772-yards, six touchdowns, 103 carries for 273-yards, and three touchdowns.
Alexander began his FIU career as a quarterback before switching to wide receiver. He had 72 of 130 completions for 849-yards, two touchdowns, and eight interceptions. On special teams, Alexander had two kick returns for 34-yards, 25 punt returns for 406-yards, and two touchdowns.
