On Wednesday, the Edmonton Elks signed former Toronto defensive end Jachai Polite and former UCF linebacker Nate Evans.
Jachai Polite is a 25-year-old from Daytona Beach, Florida. He played three games for the Toronto Argonauts this year with two tackles. The New York Jets drafted Polite in the third round (68th pick) in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Florida. He also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams, playing 11 games with four tackles and one sack.
Polite played three seasons in Florida (2016-18) with 78 tackles, 15 sacks, four pass breakups, and eight forced fumbles in 32 games. In 2018, he was named to the First-Team All-SEC.
Nate Evans is a 24-year-old from Waggaman, Louisiana. He played four seasons at UCF (2016-19) with 237 tackles, 3.5 sacks, ten pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 48 games. He went undrafted in 2020 and spent time with Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Chargers.
