On Monday, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs re-signed veteran goalie Pat Nagle for the 2022-23 season. The 34-year-old from Bloomfield Township, Michigan, will enter his 13th year in the AHL, second with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Pat Nagle started last season with the Reading Royals with an 11-3-3 record, a 2.41 GAA, and a .925 SV% in 17 games before moving up to Lehigh Valley. As the Phantoms goalie, Nagle went 10-6-9 with a 2.74 GAA and a .904 SV%. Nagle earned his first career shutout against the Harford Wolf Pack on January 29th in a 4-0 win.
In addition, he joined the USA Men’s Hockey team at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games but did not see any action. After the Phantoms’ season ended, Nagle returned to Reading in the playoffs. He went 3-4 with a 2.90 GAA and a .908 SV% in seven games as the Royals were eliminated in the second round of the ECHL playoffs.
Nagle played four years at Ferris State University (2007-10) with a 45-42-11 record, 2.32 GAA, and a .916 SV%. He was named NCAA (CCHA) First All-Star Team and NCAA (West) First All-American Team in 2010-11.
Nagle played ten seasons in the ECHL with a 202-86-36 record, 2.58 GAA, and a .913 SV%. In addition, Nagle has a 45-32 record, 2.32 GAA, and a .918 SV% in the ECHL playoffs, including winning the 2011 Kelly Cup with the Florida Everblades. Along with the Royals, Nagle played for the Idaho Steelheads, Fort Wayne Comets, and Toledo Walleye.
In the AHL, Nagle has a record of 26-24-11, a 2.70 GAA, and a .905 SV% for the Norfolk Admirals, Texas Stars, Syracuse Crunch, Lake Erie Monsters, Rochester Americans, Utica Comets, Stockton Heat, Grand Rapids Griffins, and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
