On Saturday, the Ottawa Redblacks welcomed back wide receiver/special teams returner DeVonte Dedmon. Dedmon was released by the Miami Dolphins last week.
The 26-year-old from Williamsburg, Virginia, played 11 games in 2021 with 11 catches for 103-yards, ten carries for 68-yards, and one touchdown. In addition. Dedmon had 48 punt returns for 737-yards, two touchdowns, 49 kickoff returns for 1,223 yards, and one touchdown on special teams.
Dedmon was named to his first CFL All-Star and CFL East All-Star and won the 2021 John Agro Special Teams Award as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special Teams.
In 16 career games with the Redblacks, Dedmon has 15 catches for 161-yards, ten carries for 68-yards, and one touchdown. On special teams, Dedmon has 70 punt returns for 1,076 yards, three touchdowns, 65 kickoff returns for 1,765 yards, and two touchdowns.
Dedmon played five seasons at William & Mary (2014-18) with 152 catches for 2,037 yards, 20 touchdowns, 41 carries for 240 yards, and one touchdown in 44 games.
In addition, Dedmon had 55 kick returns for 1,364 yards, one touchdown, 19 punt returns for 184 yards, and one touchdown. He was an All-CAA Second Team selection in 2016 and an All-CAA Third Team selection in 2018.
