Edmonton Elks signs WR Jalin Marshall and QB Drew Powell

On Tuesday, the Edmonton Elks announced the signings of wide receiver Jalin Marshall and former Arizona Rattlers quarterback Drew Powell.

Jalin Marshall is a 27-year-old from Middletown, Ohio, who played one game for the Elks on June 11th against the BC Lions, making one catch for four yards before being released in the same month.

He spent two seasons in Hamilton (2019, 2021), with ten catches for 159 yards, one carry for eight yards, and one touchdown in eight games. Collegiately, Marshall played three seasons at Ohio State (2013-15) with 69 catches for 924 yards and 11 touchdowns in 27 games.

Drew Powell is a 27-year-old from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, who completed 182/280 passes for 2,227 yards, 43 touchdowns, seven interceptions, 116 carries for 605 yards, and 26 touchdowns in 15 games with the Arizona Rattlers. He led the Rattlers to the Western Conference title game against the eventual IFL champions Northern Arizona Wranglers.

He was named the 2022 IFL MVP for the second consecutive year. It was his third MVP in the league. His first came in 2018 with the Iowa Barnstormers after helping them beat the Sioux Falls Storm in the United Bowl 42-28. He threw four touchdowns and rushed for a three-yard touchdown in the game. It was the Barnstormers first IFL title since moving to the Indoor Football League.

Powell played three seasons at Livingston College, and completed 535/963 passes for 6,534 yards, 57 touchdowns, 34 interceptions, 489 carries for 1,746 yards, and 19 touchdowns in 29 games.
