On Tuesday, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms re-signed defenseman Garrett McFadden to a one-year contract for the 2022-23 season. The 25-year-old from Kincardine, Ontario, finished up his USports career at Acadia University, scoring five goals and 15 assists (20 points) in 18 games.
After the season, he split his time, playing four games with the Phantoms and 28 games with the Reading Royals, scoring three goals and ten assists (13 points) in 28 games. In addition, McFadden scored a goal and two assists (3 points) in 11 playoff games.
McFadden played five seasons in the OHL for the Guelph Storm with 32 goals and 115 assists (147 points) in 292 games. In addition, McFadden scored three goals and six assists (9 points) in 15 playoff games. In his last two seasons in Guelph, he served as captain. In the 2013-14 season, McFadden helped Guelph win the OHL Championship over the North Bay Battalion.
During his final year in Guelph, McFadden signed with the Laval Rocket and played four games in the 2017-18 season with one assist. Later, he played four seasons at Acadia University (USports) with 16 goals and 53 assists (69 points) in 76 games. In the playoffs, McFadden scored three goals and two assists (5 points) in ten games.
