On Monday, the Montreal Alouettes made several moves, including adding former Utah State linebacker Nick Heninger and former Calgary defensive back Treshaun Abrahams to the practice squad. Meanwhile, Montreal suspended running back Tavien Feaster and released offensive lineman Samuel Thomassin.
Nick Heninger, a 24-year-old from South Jordan, Utah, had 42 tackles, three sacks, and three forced fumbles in his final year at Utah State. In addition, he had seven tackles, helping the Aggies win the LA Bowl over the Oregon State 24-13.
Heninger started his collegiate career at Utah (2016-18), redshirting his freshman year, and played two seasons, making 13 tackles, one sack, two pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries in 24 games before transferring to Utah State. He played two more seasons with 74 tackles, eight sacks, two pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 19 games. In 2020, Heninger was named Honorable Mention All-Mountain West.
Treshaun Abrahams-Webster, a 25-year-old from Ajax, Ontario, was released by the Redblacks earlier this month. He played 13 games for the Redblacks last year. The Redblacks drafted Webster in the fifth round (38th pick) in the 2020 CFL Draft from Calgary.
Webster played five seasons at Calgary with 76 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 16 pass breakups, and one special teams block in 38 games.
Samuel Thomassin, a 27-year-old from Quebec, was drafted by the Alouettes in the second round (19th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft. He played two games last season.
Tavien Feaster, a 24-year-old from Spartanburg, Kentucky, played two games this year for Montreal with 11 carries for 62 yards. The Alouettes did not provide an explanation as to why he was suspended.
Feaster played four seasons at Clemson (2016-18) with 222 carries for 1,330 yards, 15 touchdowns, 23 catches for 183 yards, and one touchdown in 41 games. He transferred to South Carolina (2019) with 346 carries for 2,002 yards and 20 touchdowns in 51 games.
