On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles acquired safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and a seventh-round pick in 2025 for a fifth-round pick in 2023 and two sixth-round picks in 2024.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, contract talks between Gardner-Johnson and the Saints broke down.

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, a 24-year-old from Cocoa, Florida, had 46 tackles, two sacks, four pass breakups, and three interceptions in 12 games last year. The Saints drafted Gardner-Johnson in the fourth-round (105th pick) in the 2019 NFL Draft from Florida.

In 43 games for the Saints, Gardner-Johnson has 161 tackles, 25 pass breakups, five interceptions, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble.

Gardner-Johnson played three seasons at Florida (2016-18) with 161 tackles, four sacks, 12 pass breakups, nine interceptions, and three touchdowns. In the 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, he had two interceptions, and one of them was returned for a touchdown.
