On Tuesday, the Reading Royals signed former Cincinnati Cyclones forward Max Balinson to a one-year contract for the 2022-23 season. The 25-year-old from Ancaster, Ontario, finished his collegiate career at Long Island University with four goals and four assists (8 points) in 17 games and scored a goal and four assists (5 points) for the Cincinnati Cyclones last year.
Balinson played three seasons for the Ancaster Avalanche (GOJHL) with 29 goals and 61 assists (90 points) in 131 games. In addition, Balinson scored five goals and ten assists (15 points) in 24 playoff games. In his final season in Ancaster, Balinson was named an alternate captain.
After the Avalanche, Balinson played one season for the Burlington Cougars (OJHL) with 13 goals and 35 assists (48 points) in 46 games. He was an alternate captain. In addition, he scored three goals and three assists (6 points) in the playoffs.
Then, Balinson went to Arizona State University (2017-19) for three seasons, scoring three goals and ten assists (13 points) in 41 games before transferring to Long Island University (2020-21).
Balinson scored five goals and eight assists (13 points) in 28 games and was one of the alternate captains in his final season in Long Island. Once his collegiate career ended, Balinson signed with the Cincinnati Cyclones on March 17th, 2022.
