On Friday, the Edmonton Elks acquired offensive lineman Jesse Gibbon and a 2023 second-round pick from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for offensive lineman David Beard and a 2023 fourth-round pick.
Jesse Gibbon, a 25-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, played eleven games for Hamilton this year. The Tiger-Cats drafted Gibbon in the first round (2nd pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft out of Waterloo. He’s played in 42 career games in Hamilton, five postseason games, and two Grey Cup appearances in 2019 and 2021.
David Beard, a 29-year-old from Sherwood Park, Alberta, spent his entire seven-year career with the Eskimos/Elks playing 94 games. Edmonton drafted Beard in the second round (16th pick) in the 2015 CFL Draft from Alberta. In his rookie year, he helped Edmonton win the 2015 Grey Cup title over the Ottawa Redblacks 26-20.
