On Friday, the Montreal Alouettes signed defensive lineman Jamal Davis II to a two-year contract through the 2024 season. The 27-year-old from Canton, Ohio, had 17 tackles, four sacks, and one touchdown last season in Montreal. He took part in the Los Angeles Chargers training camp earlier this year.
Davis signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He spent time on the Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns practice squads before signing with Montreal in 2021.
Collegiately, Davis went to Pittsburgh (2014-15) for two seasons with one tackle in ten games before transferring to Akron (2017-18) with 151 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and six pass breakups in 28 games. He was named First-Team All-MAC in 2018.
