On Saturday, the Montreal Alouettes signed former Ottawa Redblacks defensive back Ranthony Texada. The 27-year-old from Frisco, Texas, had 13 tackles and one interception for Ottawa this year. He played ten games for the Redblacks with 24 tackles and one interception.
Texada signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2018. After being released, he signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2019 and was briefly on their practice squad before being released.
In 2020, the New York Guardians (XFL) drafted Texada in the tenth round (79th pick). He had 16 tackles and one sack in five games before the pandemic ended the season and was released after the league suspended operations.
Texada played four seasons at TCU (2014-17) with 111 tackles, five sacks, 32 pass breakups, three interceptions, one touchdown, one forced fumble, and one block on special teams in 42 games. In 2017, Texada was named First-Team All-Big 12.
