Rutgers defensive back Shaquan Loyalint returns an interception for a touchdown in a 16-14 win over Temple

On Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights escaped with a 16-14 win over the Temple Owls. The Scarlet Knights are 3-0, while the Owls are 1-2.

Rutgers quarterback Evan Simon was 9/15 for 52 yards and five carries for four yards. Running back Johnny Langan had nine carries for 79 yards, while wide receiver Shameen Jones had one catch for 18 yards. Rutgers’ defense allowed 264 yards, 62 tackles, seven pass breakups, one interception, and one touchdown. Rutgers plays Iowa next Saturday at 7 pm on FS1.

Temple quarterback E.J. Warner was 19/32 for 215 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Running back Edward Saydee had 16 carries for 27 yards, while wide receiver Adonicas Sanders had eight catches for 90 yards. Temple’s defense allowed 201 yards, 69 tackles, two sacks, and one pass breakup. Temple plays UMass next Saturday at 2 pm on ESPN+.
