Over the weekend, the Edmonton Elks signed former BC Lions defensive lineman Tim Bonner, former Florida State linebacker Dontavious Jackson, and former Alabama defensive back Daniel Wright. To make room for them, the Elks released Defensive backs Stefan Claiborne, Ethan Makonzo, and linebacker Nathaniel Evans.
Tim Bonner, a 26-year-old from Demopolis, Alabama, had five tackles, one tackle on special teams, two sacks, and one forced fumble in ten games this year before he was released on September 21st.
Bonner played 23 games in two seasons for the Lions with 27 tackles, two tackles on special teams, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles. He signed with the Lions after the 2020 season was canceled.
Bonner played one season at East Mississippi Community College (2016) with 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries in 12 games. Then, Bonner transferred to Florida Atlantic (2017-19) with 58 tackles, eight sacks, two pass breakups, and forced fumbles in 38 games.
Dontavious Jackson, a 24-year-old from Houston, Texas, played four seasons at Florida State (2016-19) with 156 tackles, three pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception in 43 games.
Daniel Wright, a 23-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, played five seasons at Alabama (2017-21) with 115 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, one touchdown, and ten pass breakups in 58 games. He helped Alabama win three SEC titles (2018, 2020, 2021) and two National Championships (2017, 2020).
