Hamilton Tiger-Cats trade DB Alden Darby Jr. to Winnipeg and sign DL McKinley Williams

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made two moves on Tuesday. First, they traded defensive back Alden Darby Jr. to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for defensive lineman Cedric Wilcots II. Then, Hamilton signed former Syracuse defensive lineman McKinley Williams.

Alden Darby Jr., a 30-year-old from Long Beach, California, returns to the Blue Bombers after playing ten games for the Ticats this year with 23 tackles, three tackles on special teams, one sack, and one interception in ten games. Last year in Winnipeg, Darby had 34 tackles in 11 games, helping Winnipeg win its second Grey Cup championship.

Before Winnipeg, Darby spent three seasons in Toronto with 137 tackles, two tackles on special teams, one sack, eight interceptions, and three touchdowns in 43 games.

Cedric Wilcots II, a 25-year-old from Dallas, Texas, had two tackles in ten games for the Blue Bombers this year. Collegiately, Wilcots played four seasons at New Mexico State (2016-19) with 109 tackles, 18.5 sacks, four pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and one block on special teams. Wilcots is a one-time First-Team All-Sun Belt in 2017.

McKinley Williams, a 24-year-old from Miramar, Florida, most recently attended training camp for the Indianapolis Colts. Collegiately, Williams played six seasons at Syracuse (2016-21) with 122 tackles, four sacks, and one fumble recovery in 61 games.
