On Tuesday, IndyCar driver Dalton Kellett announced on Twitter that he is leaving A.J. Foyt Racing after three seasons. The 29-year-old from Stouffville, Ontario, finished 25th in the NTT IndyCar Series point standings, and his highest finish came 17th at Texas Motor Speedway.
“I have the decision not to continue with A.J. Foyt Racing in the No. 4 Chevrolet,” said Kellett. “This is not a conclusion I came lightly, as both the team and I have dedicated time and effort putting together a program for 2023. However, at this point, it isn’t the right opportunity for me to move forward.”
In three seasons with A.J. Foyt Racing, Kellett’s highest finish was 12th at World Wide Technology Raceway in 2021. Kellett has no immediate updates on where he will race in 2023.
“My genuine and heartfelt thanks go out to AJ, Larry, and the entire Foyt team,” said Kellett. “I will always be grateful for my start in IndyCar and will leave their organization with amazing memories. In my time with the team, I grew as a person and as a competitor, and am proud of my contributions to their program. Being the underdog team is never easy, but we had some moments to be very proud of.”
