Edmonton quarterback Taylor Cornelius to miss regular-season finale

Edmonton Elks

This weekend will be the final regular season game for the Edmonton Elks this Friday against the BC Lions at 9:45 pm on ESPN+. However, they will be without starting quarterback Taylor Cornelius, who will miss the game after injuring his spleen last week against Toronto.

The Elks released a statement saying, “Elks quarterback Taylor Cornelius suffered an injury to his spleen during the Elks game versus the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, October 15, and was hospitalized later that evening. He remains in hospital for observation and is expected to make a full recovery, but will not be in the lineup this week when the Elks conclude their 2022 regular season against the B.C. Lions.”

Taylor Cornelius, a 26-year-old from Amarillo, Texas, will finish the season going 205 of 357 completions for 2,768 yards, 11 touchdowns, nine interceptions, 71 carries for 502 yards, and seven touchdowns in 12 games for Edmonton this year. Cornelius recently signed a two-year extension to remain in Edmonton through the 2024 season.
