Saskatchewan Roughriders bring back linebacker Alvin Jones Jr.

On Sunday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed linebacker Alvin Jones Jr. The 27-year-old from Savannah, Georgia, attended Saskatchewan’s training camp earlier this year. He played one game for the Roughriders in 2021 with one tackle on special teams.

Jones played college football at UTEP. In four years, he played 47 games with 343 tackles, 15 sacks, seven breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception.

He received several awards, including the 2017 All-Conference USA Honorable Mention and 2016 All-Conference USA Second Team. He went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft and signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

During the 2019 NFL preseason with the Ravens, Jones Jr. had eight tackles. He was placed on injured reserve and waived with an injury settlement by the Ravens on September 10th.

Alvin Jones Jr. is a fraternal twin of current Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones and is older than him by thirty minutes.
