Colin Felix scores a goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to Newfoundland

On Saturday night at Mary Brown’s Centre, the Reading Royals lost their second game of the year in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Newfoundland Growlers.

Eight minutes and nine seconds into the first period, Reading forward Colin Felix (1) scored his first goal of the season to put the Royals up 1-0.

At 5:20 in the second period, the Royals made it 2-0 on a goal by Max Newton (1) with an assist by Jacob Gaucher. However, Newfoundland started chipping the lead away when Tyler Boland (1) scored a minute later, cutting Reading’s lead 2-1 with an assist by Zach O’Brien.

Twenty-seven seconds into the third period, Michael Joyaux (1) scored a power-play goal, tying the game 2-2 with assists from Zach O’Brien and Orrin Centazzo. Then, Isaac Johnson (1) put Newfoundland up 3-2 at 8:18. Reading tied the game, 3-3 at 11:14 as Colin Felix (2) scored his second goal of the game with assists by Zane Franklin and Brendan Hoffmann.

In overtime, Michael Joyaux (2) scored the game-winning goal 26-seconds in to give Newfoundland a 4-3 win with assists from Tyler Boland and Zach O’Brien.

Reading had 27 shots, 0/2 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 20 of 24 saves, while Newfoundland had 24 shots, 1/3 on the power play, and Luke Cavallin made 24 of 27 saves.
