Philadelphia Eagles add wide receiver Greg Ward to practice squad

On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles brought back wide receiver Greg Ward and added him to the practice squad. The 27-year-old from Tyler, Texas, had seven catches for 95 yards, and three touchdowns in 17 games last season for the Eagles.

Ward spent two years on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad before leaving to play for the San Antonio Commanders (AAF) in 2019 and had a breakout year with 22 catches for 214 yards, four carries for 14 yards, nine punt returns for 135 yards, and one touchdown in eight games before the league folded and Ward returned to the Eagles.

He played three seasons for the Eagles with 88 catches for 768 yards, ten touchdowns, three carries for one yard, one kick return for three yards, and 30 punt returns for 170 yards in 40 games.

Collegiately, Ward played four seasons at Houston (2013-16) as a quarterback with 747 of 1,106 completions for 8,705 yards, 52 touchdowns, 26 interceptions, 558 carries for 2,375 yards, 39 touchdowns, 25 catches for 228 yards, and two touchdowns in 49 games. He is a two-time American Athletic Conference Second Team.

In the 2015 American Athletic Conference championship game against the Temple Owls. Ward was 11 of 21 completions for 88 yards, 17 carries for 148 yards, and two touchdowns, helping the Cougars win the AAC championship.

Then, the Cougars played in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, where Ward was 25 of 41 completions for 238 yards, one touchdown, one interception, 20 carries for 67 yards, and two touchdowns in a 38-24 win over the heavily favorite Florida State. Wards was named Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Offensive MVP.
