On Sunday afternoon at the Santander Arena, the Reading Royals picked up their first win of the season in a 3-2 win over the Indy Fuel. The Royals are now 1-3-1, and Indy Fuel are 3-1.
One minute and twenty-nine seconds into the first period, the Fuel took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Chad Yetman (3) with assists from Christopher Cameron and Alex Wideman. Then, late in the first period, Shane Sellar (1) tied the game 1-1 with an assist from Will MacKinnon.
In the second period, the Fuel took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Chad Yetman (4) for his second goal of the game with assists from Mitchell Hoelscher and Alex Wideman.
In the third period, the Royals came back. First, Adam Karashik (1) scored a shorthand goal, tying the game 2-2 a minute and seventeen seconds into the third period. Finally, Charlie Gerard (1) scored the game-winning goal at 6:38 with an assist from Will MacKinnon.
The Royals had 40 shots, 0/6 on the power play, and Pat Nagle made 17 saves, while the Fuel had 19 shots, 0/5 on the power play, and Mitchell Weeks had 37 saves.
