On Sunday, the Reading Royals traded forward Zane Franklin to the Idaho Steelheads for future considerations. The 23-year-old from Marwayne, Alberta, scored a goal and four assists (5 points) in four games with the Royals. Reading signed Franklin in the offseason.
Franklin played at the University of Saskatchewan last season with six goals and 20 assists (26 assists) in 20 games. In addition, he had three assists in the playoffs. Franklin was named USports (West) All-Rookie Team.
Zane Franklin played six seasons in the WHL with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Kamloops Blazers with 77 goals and 136 assists (213 points) in 268 games. In addition, Franklin had six goals and 11 assists (17 points) in 36 games.
