On Monday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed linebacker Alvin Jones Jr. and quarterback Levi Lewis to one-year contracts.

Alvin Jones Jr., a 27-year-old from Savannah, Georgia, attended Saskatchewan’s training camp earlier this year. He played one game for the Roughriders in 2021 with one tackle on special teams.

Jones played college football at UTEP. In four years, he played 47 games with 343 tackles, 15 sacks, seven breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception.

He received several awards, including the 2017 All-Conference USA Honorable Mention and 2016 All-Conference USA Second Team. He went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft and signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

During the 2019 NFL preseason with the Ravens, Jones Jr. had eight tackles. He was placed on injured reserve and waived with an injury settlement by the Ravens on September 10th.

Levi Lewis, a 24-year-old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, attended mini-camp with the Seattle Seahawks before he was released. Lewis played five seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette (2017-21) with 721/1,179 completions for 9,203 yards, 74 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, 286 carries for 1,088 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He is a two-time Second Team All-Sun Belt, MVP in the LendingTree Bowl (2020), and the MVP of the New Orleans Bowl (2021).
