On Thursday, the Edmonton Elks and linebacker Adam Konar agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season. The 29-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, had 57 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles in 18 games this year in Edmonton.

Konar has played five seasons with the Eskimos/Elks in two stints. Edmonton drafted Konar in the third round (25th pick) in the 2015 CFL Draft. In his first stint, Konar played four seasons with 94 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 34 games, including winning the 2015 Grey Cup championship over the Ottawa Redblacks 26-20.

After being released by the Eskimos in training camp, Konar signed with the BC Lions. He played two seasons with 33 tackles and one sack in 31 games before returning to Edmonton in the offseason.

In addition to re-signing Konar, the Elks announced the signing of defensive back Scooby Carter. The 22-year-old from Mansfield, Texas, played three games at Alabama in 2019 with one tackle.

Then, Carter transferred to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2020 with 13 tackles and six pass breakups in five games with the Bulldogs. Then, Carter transferred to Arkansas State but never play a game with the Red Wolves.
