Rutgers special teams blocks a punt and scores a touchdown

On Saturday night at SHI Stadium, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights lost their second game in a row to the Michigan Wolverines 52-17. Rutgers are now 4-5 for the season and 1-5 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Wolverines are 9-0 this year and 6-0 in conference play.

Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt was 14/29 for 166 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Running back Kyle Monangai had four carries for 17 yards, while wide receiver Sean Ryan had four catches for 54 yards, and one touchdown.

Rutgers’ defense allowed 433 yards, with 89 tackles, one sack, seven pass breakups, and one touchdown. Rutgers plays Michigan State next Saturday.

Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy was 13/27 for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Blake Corum had 20 carries for 109 yards, and two touchdowns, while wide receiver Cornelius Johnson had three catches for 18 yards and one touchdown.

Michigan’s defense allowed 180 yards, with 43 tackles, three sacks, three pass breakups, three interceptions, and one touchdown. Michigan plays Nebraska next Saturday.
