Max Newton scores two goal in a Royals win over the Nailers

On Saturday night at Santander Arena, the Reading Royals (2-4-1) wrapped up their four-game homestand with a 4-3 win over the Wheeling Nailers (2-4).

A minute and thirty-four seconds into the first period, the Royals took a 1-0 lead by Max Newton (3) with an assist from Yvan Mongo. Then, late in the first period, Max Newton (4) scored his second goal of the game on the power play with assists from Shane Sellar and Trey Bradley to take a 2-0 lead.

Forty-three seconds into the second period, the Royals extended their lead 3-0 on a power play goal by Shane Sellar (2) with assists from Trey Bradley and Charlie Gerard. Then, the Nailers cut the Royals’ lead to 3-1 on a power play goal by Cam Hausinger (1).

After this, the Royals got the goal back midway through the second period by Trey Bradley (1) with assists from Max Newton and Charlie Gerard for a 4-1 lead. Late in the second period, the Nailers cut the Royals lead 4-2 on a power play goal by Brooklyn Kalmikov (1).

Seven minutes and seventeen seconds into the third period, Justin Addamo (1) made it a one-goal game 4-3. However, the Royals held on to a 4-3 win.

The Royals finished the night with 25 shots, three-for-five on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 30 saves, while the Nailers finished with 33 shots, two-for-four on the power play, and Tommy Nappier made 21 saves.
