On Monday, the Edmonton Elks and offensive lineman David Foucault agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season. The 33-year-old from Lasalle, Quebec, played 18 games in Edmonton this year.
Before signing with Edmonton, Foucault played 13 games in his first and only season with the Montreal Alouettes before Montreal released him on December 20th. The BC Lions drafted Foucault in the first round (5th pick) in the 2014 CFL Draft. He played 51 for the Lions. In addition, Foucault played five games in three seasons for the Carolina Panthers.
In addition, the Elks released linebacker Tre Watson. The 26-year-old from Tampa, Florida, had 17 tackles and one sack in four games for the Montreal Alouettes before being released on July 4th and signed with the Elks two days later on July 6th. Watson played three games for Edmonton with 11 tackles.
Watson played four seasons at Illinois (2014-2017) with 188 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 34 games.
Then, Watson transferred to Maryland (2018) with 104 tackles, one sack, five interceptions, eight pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 11 games. He was named to the First Team All-Big Ten in 2018.
