On Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-6, 1-6 CONF) lost their third straight game in a 27-21 loss to the Michigan State Spartans (5-5, 3-4 CONF) in Big Ten action.
Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt was 20/34 for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Kyle Monangai had 24 carries for 162 yards, while tight end Johnny Langan had five catches for 73 yards. Rutgers’ defense allowed 451 yards, with 71 tackles and four pass breakups. Rutgers plays Penn State next Saturday.
Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne was 19/35 for 256 yards, two touchdowns, and five carries for 33 yards. Running back Jalen Berger had 15 carries for 83 yards, and one touchdown, while wide receiver Jayden Reed had four catches for 90 yards and one touchdown.
Michigan State’s defense allowed 460 yards, with 96 tackles, three sacks, and five pass breakups. Michigan State plays Indiana next Saturday.
