Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford throws a touchdown in a shut out win over Maryland

On Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium, the Penn State Nittany Lions (7-2, 4-2 CONF) shut out the Maryland Terrapins (6-3, 3-3 CONF) 30-0 for their seventh win of the season.

Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford was 12/23 for 139 yards, one touchdown, and four carries for 13 yards. Running back Nicholas Singleton had 11 carries for 122 yards, and two touchdowns, while tight end Brenton Strange had three catches for 34 yards and one touchdown.

Penn State’s defense allowed 134 yards, with 62 tackles, seven sacks, and six pass breakups. Penn State plays Rutgers next Saturday.

Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa was 11/22 for 74 yards. Running back Roman Hemby had 13 carries for 68 yards, while wide receiver Rakim Jarrett had three catches for 30 yards.

Maryland’s defense allowed 413 yards, with 72 tackles and one pass breakup. Maryland plays Ohio State next Saturday.
