On Saturday night at the Santander Arena, the Reading Royals (4-4-1) concluded their four-game homestand by sweeping the Maine Mariners (4-6) by the final score of 4-1.
Seven minutes and fifty-one seconds into the first period, Will MacKinnon (1) put the Royals up 1-0 with assists from Trey Bradley and Tyler Kirkup. Then, the Mariners tied it up 1-1 on a shorthand goal by Patrick Shea (3).
After no goals were scored in the second period, the Royals took a 2-1 lead at 9:25 in the third period on a power play goal by Dominic Cormier (1) with assists from Mason Millman and Jacob Gaucher. Then, late in the third period, Shane Sellar (3) scored a shorthand goal for a 3-1 lead, and Mason Millman (1) scored 43-seconds later with an assist by Colin Felix for a 4-1 win.
The Royals finished the night with 36 shots, 1/5 on the power play, and Pat Nagle made 36 saves. Meanwhile, the Mariners had 37 shots, 0/4 on the power play, and Peter Thome made 32 saves.
