On Friday night at the Santander Arena, the Reading Royals (6-4-1) extended their winning streak to five games with a 5-2 win over the Adirondack Thunder (2-5-3).
Four minutes and forty-one seconds into the first period, Will MacKinnon (2) put the Royals up 1-0 with assists from Colin Felix and Max Newton. Then, Max Newton (9) scored ten seconds later for a 2-0 lead.
Five minutes and fifty-nine seconds into the second period, the Royals made it 3-0 on a goal by Devon Paliani (1) with an assist by Jacob Gaucher. Late in the second period, Shane Sellar (4) scored a power play goal for a 4-0 lead with assists from Charlie Gerard and Garrett McFadden. Two minutes later, Adirondack finally got on the board with a power play goal by Grant Jozefek (3) with assists from Shane Harper and Patrick Grasso.
In the third period, Sane Sellar (5) scored his second goal for a 5-1 lead with an assist by Max Newton. Late in the game, Matt Stief (1) scored for Adirondack to cut the Royals lead to 5-2 with assists from Shane Harper and Xavier Parent with 1:46 left in the game.
The Royals finished the night with 28 shots, 1/3 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 26 saves. Meanwhile, the Thunder had 28 shots, 1/4 on the power play, and Jake Theut.
