Reading Royals lose two players to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms

On Tuesday, the Reading Royals announced that forward Charlie Gerard and goalie Nolan Maier were recalled to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. This comes after the Phantoms lost Tanner Laczynski and Jackson Cates to the Philadelphia Flyers. In addition, the Royals signed forward Jordan Kaplan to a Standard Player Contract (SPC).

Charlie Gerard, a 27-year-old from Rocky River, Ohio, has two goals and five assists (7 points) in eight games with the Royals. In addition, Gerard played two games for the Phantoms this year.

Nolan Maier, a 21-year-old from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, is 4-2-1 with a 2.36 GAA, and a .905 SV% in eight games.

Jordan Kaplan, a 25-year-old from Bridgewater, New Jersey, played 11 games for the Norfolk Admirals with one assist this year. Last season, Kaplan suited up for the Adirondack Thunder with 11 goals and 21 assists (32 points) in 65 games.

In the 2016-17 season, Kaplan played for the New Jersey Titans (NAHL) with 23 goals and 33 assists (56 points) in 52 games. In addition, he scored four goals in the playoffs. Kaplan was named NAHL All-East Division Rookie Team, and NAHL All-Rookie First Team.

Collegiately, Kaplan played three seasons at Sacred Heart University (2017-20) with 25 goals and 31 assists (56 points) in 107 games. In his senior year, he transferred to the University of Vermont (2020-21) with one goal and one assist (2 points) in nine games.

The Royals are back in action on Wednesday at 7 pm against the Maine Mariners.
