On Thursday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and linebacker Kyle Wilson agreed to a new two-year contract extension through the 2024 season.
The 27-year-old from Wichita, Kansas, had 45 tackles, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 17 games this season. His 45 tackles were ranked fifth in the Canadian Football League. This will be his second season in Hamilton. In his first season in Hamilton, Wilson had seven tackles in four games.
Collegiately, Wilson played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College (2014-15) with 172 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 23 games. Then, Wilson transferred to Arkansas State (2016-17) with 172 tackles, four sacks, one interception, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 25 games.
Afterward, Wilson signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent and made it to the practice squad. However, he was released by the Eagles and signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, playing three games with two tackles. He spent two seasons with the Chargers before signing with the Tiger-Cats on December 21st, 2020.
