On Thursday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed veteran offensive lineman Pat Neufeld to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season. The 33-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, played 17 games this season, helping Winnipeg to reach their third straight Grey Cup game. This will be his 12th season in the CFL and ninth with the Blue Bombers.
In the 2021 season, Pat Neufeld played 13 games and was a pivotal contributor to the Blue Bombers winning their second Grey Cup championship. In addition, Neufeld was selected as a CFL All-Star and CFL West All-Star. The Blue Bombers led the league in scoring, finished second in rushing, and allowed the fewest quarterback sacks.
In his career, Neufeld started in 119 games with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2011-13) and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2014-present).
The Roughriders drafted Neufeld in the fifth round (33rd pick) in the 2010 CFL Draft. Saskatchewan traded Neufeld to the Blue Bombers in October 2013 for Alex Hall and a 2014 second-round pick.
