On Saturday night at the Cool Insuring Arena, the Reading Royals (9-5-1) wrapped up a three-game road trip with a 3-2 overtime win over the Adirondack Thunder (4-6-4).
Seven minutes and forty-six seconds into the first period, the Thunder took a 1-0 with a power play goal by Patrick Grasso (7) with assists from Shane Harper and Matt Stief. A minute later, the Royals tied it up 1-1 on the power play by Trey Bradley (6) with assists from Max Newton and Garrett McFadden.
After a scoreless second period, Max Balinson (1) put the Royals up 2-1 at 13:28 of the third period with an assist from Trey Bradley. Late into the third period Patrick Grasso (8) scored his second goal of the night to tie the game 2-2 at 17:05 with assists from Ryan Da Silva and Xavier Parent. The game remained tied 2-2 heading into overtime.
Seven seconds into overtime, Mason Millman (2) scored the game-winning goal with an assist by Max Newton to give the Royals a 3-2 win.
The Royals finished the night with 27 shots, 1/4 on the power play, and Brody Claeys made 21 saves. Meanwhile, the Thunder had 23 shots, 1/5 on the power play, and Francis Marotte made 24 saves.
The Royals return to the Santander Arena to begin a five-game homestand starting Friday at 7 pm against the Norfolk Admirals.
