On Tuesday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed 2022 Draft pick offensive lineman Zack Fry and kicker David Solie.

Zack Fry, a 22-year-old from London, Ontario, was selected by the Roughriders in the second round (16th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft. Fry attended the Roughriders’ training camp before heading back to Western University for his final season.

Fry played four seasons with the Mustangs (2018-22) playing 37 games. In the 2022 season, Fry was part of an offense that led the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) in multiple categories including points per game (45.0), total offense (4,106 yards), rushing yards (2,336), rushing yards per game (292.0) and yards per rush (8.2).

In his collegiate career, Fry was named OUA All-Star and Second Team All-Canadian in 2022, a two-time OUA First-Team All-Star (2019, 2021), an OUA All-Rookie Team in 2018, and won the Vanier Cup in 2021.

David Solie, a 22-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, played four seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2019-22) making 61 of 80 field goals (76.3%), 141 kickoffs for 7,515 yards, seven touchbacks, 200 punts for 7,729 yards, five touchbacks, 54 inside the 20-yard line, and three carries for 78 yards in 32 games.

Solie was named Canada West All-Star in 2022, First Team All-Canadian in 2021, CJFL national champion in 2018, and a Team Canada MVP and Senior Bowl MVP in 2017.
