Winnipeg Blue Bombers and LB Adam Bighill agree to a two-year extension

On Tuesday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and linebacker Adam Bighill agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season. The 34-year-old from Montesano, Washington, had 72 tackles, two sacks, and one interception in the 2022 season on his way to being named a CFL West All-Star for the eighth time in his career.

This will be Bighill’s fifth season with the Blue Bombers and 11th in the CFL. In four seasons with the Blue Bombers, Bighill has 309 tackles, 12 sacks, seven interceptions, two touchdowns, and six forced fumbles in 65 games. He helped Winnipeg win two Grey Cup championships.

Before the CFL, Bighill played four seasons at Central Washington (2007-10) with 163 tackles, 11 sacks, and seven interceptions in 44 games. After going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft, Bighill signed with the BC Lions.

Bighill played six seasons with the Lions (2011-16) with 558 tackles, 33 sacks, seven interceptions, one touchdown, and eight forced fumbles in 99 games. He helped the Lions win the Grey Cup in 2011.

After BC, Bighill signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2017, playing three games with one tackle. On May 14th, 2018, the Saints released him and Bighill signed with the Blue Bombers five days later.

Bighill is a three-time Grey Cup champion, three-time CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player (2015,2018,2021), three-time Norm Fieldgate Trophy winner (2015,2018,2021), eight-time CFL West All-Star (2012-16, 2018, 2021-22), and a six-time CFL All-Star (2012-13, 2015-16, 2018,2021).
