Edmonton Elks releases DB Duron Carter and five other players

The Edmonton Elks released six players on Thursday. They are defensive backs Duron Carter, Treston Decoud, Jeff Richards, offensive lineman Tony Washington, linebacker Brady Sheldon, and defensive lineman Keisean Lucier-South.

Duron Carter, a 31-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, played ten games in 2022 with 17 tackles and one interception in his first and only season in Edmonton. His only interception came in Week 7 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He missed eight games due to an injury.

Treston Decoud, a 29-year-old from Covington, Louisiana, had 41 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble in 18 games with the Elks. He wrapped up his second season in the CFL after spending the 2021 season with the Toronto Argonauts with 26 tackles in 13 games.

Jeff Richards, a 31-year-old from Del City, Oklahoma, had 17 tackles and one interception in 17 games for the 2022 season. His interception came against Winnipeg in Week 18. He wrapped up his fourth season in the CFL after spending two seasons in Ottawa and one season in Toronto.

Tony Washington, a 36-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, played nine games for the Elks in 2022. He missed 11 games due to an injury and wraps up his second stint with Edmonton. He previously played for Edmonton from 2014 through 2017, winning a Grey Cup in 2015.

Brady Sheldon, a 29-year-old from Novi, Michigan, had 13 tackles and one interception in four games with the Elks in 2022. In 2021, he played one game for the Toronto Argonauts with three tackles.

Keisean Lucier-South, a 25-year-old from Santa Ana, California, made three tackles in three games for the Elks in 2022. He registered two tackles in a Week 10 matchup against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It was his first season in the CFL.
