The Calgary Stampeders and wide receiver Reggie Begelton agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season. The 29-year-old from Beaumont, Texas, had 85 catches for 957 yards, six touchdowns, and four carries for 42 yards in 18 games during the 2022 season.
“Dreams do become a reality, so why not dream big, Cowtown?” said Begelton to Stampeders.com. “It’s time to bring the championship back home. Let’s go!”
This will be Begelton’s sixth season in Calgary. Last season, Begelton returned to Calgary after two seasons on the Green Bay Packers practice squad. He had nine catches for 133 yards, one touchdown, and one carry for 21 yards in two games during the 2021 season.
Before joining the Stampeders in 2017, he played 46 games in four seasons at Lamar University. He caught 227 passes for 2,435 yards and 20 touchdowns. He graduated as the Cardinals’ all-time leader in catches and touchdowns. He was selected to the first-team all-Southland Conference in 2015 and a two-time second-team selection in 2013 and 2014.
Begelton joined the Stampeders in 2017 after going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft. In 53 career games with the Stampeders, Begelton has 243 catches for 3,326 yards, 19 touchdowns, and nine carries for 101 yards and one touchdown. He was part of the Stampeders’ 2018 Grey Cup championship team.
