On Friday night at the Santander Arena, the Reading Royals (12-6-1) had their five-game winning streak come to an end in a 3-1 loss to the Allen Americans (6-12-1).
Eight minutes and forty-two seconds into the first period, the Royals took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Shane Sellar (6) with assists from Charlie Gerard and Garrett McFadden. The Royals led 1-0 after one period.
Ten minutes and thirty seconds into the second period, the Americans tied the game on a power play goal by Liam Finlay (9) with assists from Hank Crone and Colton Saucerman. The game remained tied 1-1 after two periods.
Fifty-one seconds into the third period, the Americans took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Hank Crone (11) with assists from Chad Butcher and Colton Saucerman. Late in the third period, the American sealed the game 3-1 on an empty net goal by Jack Combs (12) with assists from Kris Myllari and Kevin Mandolese. The Americans won the game 3-1.
The Royals finished the night with 33 shots, 1/6 on the power play, and Pat Nagle made 18 saves. On the other side, the Americans had 21 shots, 1/3 on the power play, and Kevin Mandolese made 32 saves.
